24th of July Celebrations

24th of July

Today is the 24th of July. This is a day we celebrate the Mormon pioneers settling in the Salt Lake Valley after traveling from Illinois. Two years after they arrived in Utah the settlers commemorated their arrival with the Nauvoo Brass Band which is seen as the first celebration of Pioneer Day. Our celebrations have changed quite a bit since then from large parades, fireworks being shot off, big celebrations in city parks, and family parties and BBQs.

We hope that all your celebrations for Pioneer Day are enjoyable and safe. Today is a great day to remember all pioneers and those that came before us that have helped form the land we have today.
